Évora is a portuguese city , Capital District of Évora, and located in the region of Alentejo and the subregion Alentejo Central, with a population of about 41 159 inhabitants.

It is home to one of the largest municipalities of Portugal, with 1307.04 kilometers ² and 54,780 inhabitants (2008), subdivided into 19 parishes. It is bordered to the north by the municipality of Arraiolos, To the northeast Estremoz, To the east Redondo The southeast by Évora South by Portel Southwest by Viana do Alentejo and west by Montemor-O-Novo. It is home to District and former diocese, and ecclesiastical capital (Archdiocese of Évora).

It is known as the Capital Alentejo and City Museum.
